Outlook search shows "Something went wrong and your search - Microsoft Community


after installed security update microsoft office 2016, "search" feature in outlook not working expected.

please see following details for:

1. when try search email, shows "something went wrong , search couldn't completed". emails never returned search.

2. found following warning message in event log.

"search cannot complete indexing of outlook data. indexing cannot continue d:\outlook data files\xxx.ost (error=0x81404005). if error continues, contact microsoft support."

3. issues occurred , reproduced after following windows updates installed. did system restore , tested it.

i spent couple of weeks googling , try following actions:

1. re-create outlook profile , data files

2. repair ost , pst outlook files

3. rebuild windows indexes

but none of these helpful.

there tool scans office applications issues. can download , use microsoft office configuration analyzer tool 2.2 to scan computer , analyze office 2016 configurations. visit link download tool , run it. after repairing office 2016, launch outlook again , see if can search emails.

Outlook Rules not Running Automatically - Microsoft Community

i have 3 rules in outlook 2013 installation set when email arrives check words in body, subject or header.  the rules not seem run automatically.  when run rules manually seem work fine.  i've had problem quite while.  recently, created new outlook profile did not fix issue.  i went , changed srs file srs.old did not fix either. please provide me suggestions fix. hi neil, in order isolate issue, we'd following information: have made recent changes or applied update device prior issue? which email account using? personal email account or work email account? for initial troubleshooting, suggest deleting rules , create again. this, may refer article below: manage email messages using rules looking forward response.
