Outlook 2016 Does not search mail using From: To : even when i - Microsoft Community

i work tejas , experiencing problem. 1 of difficulties in diagnosing problem it's intermittent. of time searching works perfectly, claims "no matches found" though know that's untrue , emails exist. on occasions emails appear if delete last character search , press return key.

in answer questions;

1. account office 365 account

2. via "microsoft exchange"

3. online (fyi problem happening outlook client installed on pc)

4. product information states "subscription product - microsoft office 365 proplus" , version 1609 (build 7369.2130)
5.below screenshots showing occasion when problem occurred. 

a. searched sent items emails to:joan , know lots exist, outlook states "no matches found" 

b. delete last character (i.e. change search to:joa , press enter key make outlook search again, , find emails i've sent joan.

now know using outlook client version 1609 (build 7369.2130) office 365 account. problem seems client issue. please try using microsoft office configuration analyzer tool scan outlook client , check if there wrong outlook client.

 

meanwhile, since facing problem search function in outlook client, recommend follow steps below rebuild outlook client’s index. here steps:

1. open outlook client. select file > options > search > indexing options.

2. click “modify” check if “microsoft outlook” marked. if marked, should try disabling , re-enabling outlook. so, follow these steps:

a. deselect outlook indexing.

b. close outlook client.

c. wait 5 minutes, check in task manager outlook.exe not in processes tab.

d. open outlook client again, go , select outlook indexing

3. click “advanced” on “indexing options” page. select “rebuild” button on following page.

note: when index being rebuilt, search not work. should wait until index done rebuilding. time take index rebuilt depends on system using, amount of files need indexed, , file size.

 

by way, noticed colleague posted thread in our forum , our engineer provided steps him try. if tejas more familiar outlook client knowledge, recommend seek him , perform steps monique mentioned , tell results in original thread.
