hi
search not seem work expected in outlook when search in mailbox have been given delegated access (full-access rights).
given following scenario:
- user1 given full-access rights on user2's mailbox auto-mapping disabled in exchange:
add-mailboxpermission -identity user1 -user user2 -accessrights fullaccess -inheritancetype -automapping $false
- user1 adds user2's mailbox in outlook credentials of user1 , "use cached exchange mode" checked , "mail keep offline" set "all".
this happens when issuing search user2's inbox:
for demonstration mailbox of user2 include 1 e-mail subject "email user2" , mailbox of user1 include 1 e-mail subject "email user1".
when searching search term "email" in user2 mailbox these results per scope:
- "current mailbox" - search results user1's mailbox displayed
- "current folder" - no search results displayed
- "subfolders" - search results user2's mailbox displayed expected
if "work offline" in outlook checked search works expected , scopes returns results, wouldn't consider workaround. if "work offline" unchecked search works expected again.
this must surely bug in outlook/wds search functionality , real issue our customer depended on , reliable search in mailboxes delegated access.
i have been using office 2016 (first release deferred channel, version 1701, build 7766.2084) and have reproduced both against office 365 mailboxes , exchange on-premises mailboxes several client computers , seems consistent every time.
