i've set outlook 2016 default mail app pc.

i've set outlook 2016 default mail app email related protocols know.

i've set outlook 2016 default mail app email related file types know.

regardless of these settings, when notification comes in on notification panel i've received email, clicking on notification launches mail , not outlook 2016.  

any suggestions? registry hack? hidden setting i'm missing?

based on description provided, want outlook 2016 default program when opening email via notification. that, kindly perform following:

method 1: turning off notification other mail app.

1. click on start menu.
2. select system.
3. go notifications & actions.
4. under get notifications these senders, turn on outlook 2016 , turn off other mail app.

method 2: make outlook default program email, contacts, , calendar.

1. open outlook 2016.
2. click on file tab.
3. select options.
4. go general.
5. under start options, tick box beside make outlook default program e-mail, contacts, , calendar.
6. click on ok.

after completing steps above, kindly check if still experience same issue.

please post result further assistance.
