False Timestamp - Microsoft Community

i believe employee in organization made mistake , not want take fall.

i received forwarded email boss "originally" sent me 2/1, staff in copy. have never seen email. searched sender, date sent, deleted files, , spam both "notified" email accounts.

is possible alter timestamp, or change emails contents , recipients..forward make legitimate..if so..how can catch dirty traitor

if forward, easy fake can write in quoted original message header since text in email.

it gets little bit more difficult when original message forwarded msg-attachments, still not impossible or hard fake when know doing.

it gets difficult impossible when original message signed digital signature (certificate).

with first method, might able find traces of when @ html source of message , compare source of message without faked quoted header; there bound mistake (different font) or other difference in html construction of header. of course wouldn't work when message sent in plain text.
