as apparent computer genius am, accidentally swept bunch of emails trying clean out inbox, thinking referring past emails, , instead, of course, i've set rules have emails various senders auto-deleted now, , don't know senders did or how reverse it. far gone or can me? (i did find "empty folder" button eventually, way.)

the answer yes. i'd reminder retention policy affect emails if using office 365 account. policy specify how long message remains in mailbox , action take when message reaches specified retention age. when message reaches retention age, it's moved user’s in-place archive or deleted. , policy managed admin of organization. article reference:

Outlook Rules not Running Automatically - Microsoft Community
