Offioce Outlook 2013 sends attachments in winmail.dat format after - Microsoft Community


per notice microsoft reconnected outlook.com

ever since when send email office 2013 outlook any attachments send go recipients in winmail.dat format instead of native format.  excel, word, pdf , other types of files converted , end going recipients in winmail.dat format

i have spent hours microsoft support technicians since feb , unable fix it.  known problem , engineers working on it.

note: if use outlook.live.com in browser , send same attachments go in native format. 

some people have indicated problem office outlook converting files tnef format (transport neutral encapsulation format) turning off tnef preference in registry not solve problem

does have solution problem?

hi tony,

here can resolve concern attachments being converted winmail.dat using outlook 2013.

  1. open outlook 2013, click file.
  2. select options, choose mail on upper left pane.
  3. scroll down @ bottom , check under message format, make sure convert html format selected on drop down box.
