Can an email archive in a .pst file be easily manipulated to create - Microsoft Community

bit of odd question one....

my wife involved in court case emails have been produced evidence believes (together supporting analysis) fakes. wont go detail there inconsistencies in text suggest have been created after event. until party concerned has said available printed copies.

the party has claimed have found original (2004 vintage) sbs server hard drive , claim have extracted email archive file (.pst) containing original copies of emails. new copies of emails submitted still have inconsistencies original printed copies (and in email chain) , wife believes these have been faked also. has asked me if there anyway of telling if archive file has been tampered with. have suggested requests mirror copy of hard drive can extract .pst file ourselves , investigate matter using out own tools.

i have had @ description of how data recovered , seems plausible, believe disk found original server. concern have tampered , altered of emails on archive file found.

the question have how easy go existing outlook archive , alter text of emails? if able leave traces? there tools out there help?

because there evidence suggest emails have been faked not essential prove .pst file has been tampered if proved final nail in coffin.

unless message digitally signed and/or encrypted, it's easy edit it. can edit message opening in own windows , choose; actions-> edit message.

there various outlook-level programmatic methods this.
