dllhost.exe Using all of 99% of CPU - Outlook 2013 Stuck on - Microsoft Community

hello all,

using outlook 2013 on windows 7 professional machine.

outlook keeps popping small window says "contacting server information", when happens sits window open , nothing ever happens. , option on window "cancel", nothing when click other becoming greyed out. i've let window sit open on hour nothing happening @ all...

noticed when occurs, task manager shows process "dllhost.exe" using 97% 99% of cpu entire time it's running. , way rid of outlook pop-up window saying contacting server kill dllhost.exe. once process killed pop-up window disappears , can use outlook again. is, until click on email contains picture or logo, etc, , pop-up window again.

getting frustrating...

attempted run "sfc /scannow" see if maybe there issue dllhost.exe file , scan returned saying found corrupted files, couldn't repair them. booted windows 7 installer disc , went repair mode , ran sfc again, returned same result. if can share cbs.log file if think problem.

appreciated.!

*update: noticed dllhost.exe has same behavior when outlook first started (*so doesn't happen when clicking on email containing pictures/logos/etc...). tried delete mail profile , let outlook re-create it. but, after finished i'm still having exact same problem.

thanks in advance,
matt

hi matt,

the common reason behind outlook 2013 error “contacting server information” system corruption. error may triggered corrupted pst file, incorrect account settings, malware infection, , if outlook inbox contain corrupted email messages.

to resolve concern, we recommend run repair on office application. rebuild office application default state. restart computer changes take effect , check if issue persists.

in addition, suggest run full system scan if have antivirus program installed on system ensure concern not related malware infections or third-party programs.

let know if need further assistance.
