Sharing across different Exchange Servers - Microsoft Community


is possible share outlook 2016 contacts across exchange servers?

i use outlook on 2 (different) exchange servers (don't ask, need way multiple businesses) , want share contacts between two.  is possible?

detail:

two different computers...one install outlook 2016 windows, other outlook 2016 mac.  i can share windows install contacts mac, can't seem outlook mac 2016 share it's contacts windows installation.  the mac version won't let me add exchange email address windows installation when try add permissions on organize tab.  the exchange email address outlook windows installation in contacts list mac installation.

can done?

yes, possible. on server side, admin need first check if “share contacts folder“ in exchange admin center > organization > sharing  > individual sharing > default sharing policy enabled or checked. can refer screenshot , step article change default sharing policy, , apply configuration on both exchange organizations.

let define domain-a , domain-b 2 different exchange users.

i understand can share contact folder others in outlook windows (domain-a), , have opened outlook sharing invitation in outlook mac (domain-b). let me know if misunderstood.

regarding “the mac version won't let me add exchange email address windows installation when try add permissions on organize tab”(domain-b), please provide more details or screenshots understand scenario. if referring share exchange folder in outlook mac, , under people tab choose “add user” option on sharing permission option of contacts (domain-b), not show external address (domain-a) add permission in folder, , show ”add” button screenshot greyed out.

it not feasible share external contacts in outlook mac. thank understanding. workaround, can manually send contact information via vcard, import vcard outlook contacts on outlook windows.

1.) the detailed outlook mac version, like 15.29 (170104). , mac os version.

2.) screenshot regarding “the mac version won't let me add exchange email address”

3.) issue occur specific user or users in organization?

4.) check if issue occurs on mac machine.
