so here's situation. using computer windows 7 , outlook 2010. email file has grown extremely large - 50gb. it's buggy , crashes lot. i've experienced bios problem computer , long story short, decided buy new computer - have outlook 2016 windows 10. since pst file large, best way go moving email new computer?
should take current pst file , make archive file , move new computer , start fresh brand new pst file? if so, how do that? or should , import whole pst file outlook 16? i'm open other suggestions. thanks
assuming current pc not working correctly or without issues, outlook closed copy pst new pc under \my documents\outlook files\
then start ms outlook, start setup process, assuming wish keep mail a/c pop, need add a/c in other settings page dialogue need enter server settings provided isp, use new data file.
if wish set mail a/c imap account, , assuming isp supports imap use auto setup page
once outlook running file>open/export>open pst file copied, use inbox repair tool scan pst errors, size may take considerable amount of time, outlook may not responding, , not able use pc whilst repair runs.
when finishes repair , notifies errors repaired, i'm afraid have run repair tool again/again until finds no more fix, @ point can use archive options on data file, may wish create several archives differing dates, ideally want underlying data file down less 10gb.
i not use import option, if nothing else loses data & settings
