Office 2010 - Assign task to two altering resources - Microsoft Community

good afternoon,

i working on schedule have 2 resources.  resource working 14 days on, taking 7 days off.  resource b working 7 days on (while resource off) taking 14 days off.  these set 2 separate calendars.  both resources equal units (10 hr days).  the task should have straight through duration (i.e. task 400 hrs should take 40 days).

what projects doing splitting hours evenly.  so both resource , resource b given 200 hours.  this results in resource being finished after has spent it's 200 hrs , no work being assigned task until resource b starts:

what happening:

day 1-14 - resource (140 total hrs spent)

day 15-21 - resource b (70 total hrs spent)

day 22-27 - resource (200 total hrs spent)

day 28-35 - no resource assigned!!!

day 36-42 - resource b (140 total hrs spent)

day 43-56 - no resource assigned!!!

day 57-62 - resource b (200 total hrs spent)

task complete on day 62 (resource - 200 hrs, resource b - 200 hrs)

what want:

day 1-14 - resource (140 total hrs spent)

day 15-21 - resource b (70 total hrs spent)

day 22-35 - resource (280 total hrs spent)

day 36-40 - resource b (120 total hrs spent)

task complete on day 40 (resource - 280 hrs, resource b - 120 hrs)

how assign task run continuously?

thanks in advance.

edit:

kyle,

first of all, project calendar needs this:

the resource calendar needs this:

the resource b calendar needs this:

then assign both resources task. @ first project level load total work both resources leave gap day 28 through day 35 resource , extend total time resource b beyond 40 days, need manually adjust work hours each resource on resource usage view. when done, this:

hope helps.

john
