Reading pane will not stay off in macos - Microsoft Community


after upgrading latest outlook 2016 version 15.33 (170409), reading pane setting not persist.

open outlook, go inbox (reading pain on)

organize --> reading pane --> select off

go sent items

back inbox , reading pain on

the same behavior exist using view --> reading pain menu option well.

i have uninstalled outlook , reinstalled , problem still there.

what steps needed resolve ?

many detailed information. solve problem, please try following steps set preferences defaults:

1. quit office 2016 applications.

2. go to: username/library/containers/com.microsoft.outlook/data/library/preferences

3. move files contain com.microsoft.outlook.plist in file name trash, do not empty trash yet.

4. open outlook mac client , try reproducing problem.

if problem persists, restore plist files trash.

 

moreover, i’d know following information , try reproduce issue on our side:

1. type of account use on outlook client? office 365 account, outlook.com account, gmail account or other account?

2. problem occur if switch other folders, deleted items, inbox?

3. regarding “reading pain on”, option select, right or bottom?
