AutoCorrect for some symbol not working well in latest version of - Microsoft Community


all working in version 16.0.7571.7095, since upgrade 16.0.7830.1013, seems i'm not able type smile symbol in outlook, word type :).

when check further, found settings different in insert --> symbol --> more symbol --> autocorrect...

in version 16.0.7571.7095, showing correct

in version 16.0.7830.1013. it's showing **, , showing [] when type :) in outlook , word..

ms confirmed is a bug. 

the issue due change in office 365 proplus since end of 2016. user can type emoji shortcuts, office pg made change use “segoe ui emoji”font replace “wingdings”font render emoji. “segoe ui emoji”font available on windows 10 (seguiemj.ttf), not available on windows 7. why emoji cannot displayed in newer version of office 2016 on windows 7.

now have workaround issue, please try in environment?

  1. copy font file ”seguiemj.ttf” attached “c:\windows\fonts”, you can find file win10 system.
  2. then double click install in win7 system.
  3. then can create new word/outlook file , try type emoji characters, displayed normally. if not applied immediately, please restart computer.

can find seguiemj.ttf windows 10.
