Default email address in People can't be edited - Microsoft Community

our church using office 365 business. users using outlook online our office 365  email. 1 of our users has noticed problem contacts in online people app. using mac, same problem shows in account on pc, , i've noticed similar problem in own account.

the problem original email address in contact needs changed no longer correct. however, address ghosted , cannot changed. can enter second address there no way set default.

there number of contacts way, , i've noticed of mine same. needless quite frustrated, has lot of email lists need updating , there no way correct these addresses.

one odd thing if set account in desktop outlook 2016 , @ contacts, ghosted address gone. same true in outlook 2016 on mac, since lists has created online not seem synchronize desktop app on mac (and ones creates in app don't sync online or devices)  that doesn't much.

do have idea causing , how can fixed? can send screen clippings of 1 of contacts if help.

alison,

the small amount of testing have been able pretty confirm told me. i'm afraid going frustrating , difficult users understand however, because when change email address , doesn't seem 'work' (the old address still pops when try enter name in new email) think system broken.  i have confirmed new email address shows in contact list, , can delete link outlook cached address out of owa contact. of course doesn't out of owa cache (and users don't use outlook anyway) way use contact type email address directly, or click on button , select -- bit cumbersome , users aren't used doing. .

at rate, again appreciate @ least understand happening , can instruct users when have problems. needs improvement in opinion.

but think can consider question closed. again.
