Outlook indexing not working (again) - Microsoft Community


what there many question/answers on outlook search not working.

its shameful asking question @ on such mature product made 1 of world's biggest software company.

i developer , think student fixed , working without manual intervention.

scenario is;

  1. outlook indexing enabled.
  2. i have thousands of emails, last 1 titled "microsoft community" microsoft.com.
  3. i search microsoft , "no result" instantly.
  4. i cannot believe software cannot see there problem , automatically re-index (maybe asking user first).

have tried suggested solutions , none worked. thing worked re-installing office 365.

a few weeks later , it's happened again time re-install did not work.

i ask again, how indexing made complex point doesn't work.

microsoft should not asking people pay gross incompetence - shameful.

the way can search email start outlook in safe mode , perform non-indexed search.

fyi: have latest version of software.

we can see here having issue search function using outlook application. there updated build version 7870.2031 released last 8th of june 2017 can resolve issue. check this link more information , workaround if issue persist after having latest update.

make sure not forget re-enable updates.

you might have launch indexing options if issue still present after installing latest build:

  1. close outlook app.
  2. press windows key+x , click control panel.
  3. type indexing in search box , choose indexing options.
  4. click advanced button.
  5. in the advanced options dialog box, on the index settings tab, under troubleshooting, click rebuild.

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
