Setting up Office 365 account on Outlook 2016 - the name cannot be - Microsoft Community


hi, first off, searching specific error message got me answers relating exchange servers, such this while issue office 365 account. reason want access office 365 account outlook can view calendar within outlook 2016, find more user-friendly outlook.com

so go add account > manual setup > office 365 , enter email , password, logs on mail server , gives text 'congratulations! email account configured , ready use', , when click finish, informs me outlook must restart changes take effect.

i close outlook , re-open after loading screen error message, 'the name cannot matched name in address list', followed message 'cannot start microsoft outlook. cannot open outlook window. set of folders cannot opened. unexpected error has occurred.

click ok on last error message , try open outlook again , opens normally, office 365 account has not been added.

this using windows 10 , office 365

i did had same issue, , below resolution worked me. happened on win10pro outlook 2016 fresh install new employee.

1. open control panel typing in search

2. search mail in control panel. click on mail (microsoft outlook 2016)  shown in below image.

3. create new outlook profile, open traditional outlook setup window. once completed try opening outlook. did work me.
