Search function in Outlook on my Mac stopped working - Microsoft Community


hello

the search function in outlook on mac has stopped working. used work fine , stopped. 

i'm not technical , of fixes seem quite drastic or complicated.  

has has problem recently? i'm wondering if microsoft did update behind scenes has caused problem colleague has same issue.

regarding “it finds stuff not all”, let know how many emails can searched now? unsearchable emails stored in specific folder?

 

as still can’t search information, please try following steps:

1. refer article , create new profile.

note: not remove original profile.

2. on mac, go finder > applications > utilities > terminal.

3. type "mdimport -l".

4. if see more 1 instance of " microsoft outlook spotlight importer.mdimporter," delete outlook application not using, empty trash, restart mac, , go step 2.

5. in terminal, re-index outlook database using following command , substituting own user name <user_name>:

 mdimport -g "/applications/microsoft outlook.app/contents/library/spotlight/microsoft outlook spotlight importer.mdimporter" -d1 /users/<user_name>/library/group\ containers/ubf8t346g9.office/outlook/outlook\ 15\ profiles/main\ profile

note: in command above, path after "-g" default path outlook installed. path after "-d1" default path profile. you'll have substitute actual paths if have renamed profile or installed outlook in different location.

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
