"Something went wrong and your search couldn't be - Microsoft Community


just started after recent 365 update. in outlook no matter account , search option, 3 "something went wrong ...etc". have followed solutions offered others (re 'indexing' etc.) made no difference. frustrating. help??

solved problem, finally!!

try perform these steps reset outlook indexing.(for outlook 2013 , 2016)

  1. in outlook, choose “file” ->then “options” -> go “search”option  >  choose “indexing options” > “modify” , uncheck “microsoft outlook“. select “close” when done.
  2. go to “file” > “account settings” > again “account settings“.
  3. choose “data files” tab.
  4. write down “location” “ost” file. go folder specified.
  5. close your outlook.
  6. using “windows explorer” go folder ost files these folders wrote down in location section. basically, location usually“c:\users\yourusername\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook“.
  7. then highlight ost files in folder. (hold “ctrl” button click and select all).
  8. do right-click on highlighted file, select “properties“.
  9. then select the “advanced…” button.
  10. do check the “allow file have contents indexed in addition file properties” option if isn’t checked previously, go “ok“.
  11. now open outlook, go to “file” location >then “options” > “search” > “indexing options” > click on “modify” , recheck  “outlook“. select “close” when done.
