MS Project 2016 crashes/hangs frequently - Office365 - Microsoft Community


we have add-in ms project.

in 1 site ms project has started crash/hang frequently. coincides upgrade ms project 2007 office365 , ms project 2016. in other sites ms project runs fine, same combination, office365 , ms project 2016. on machines in affected site there no issues.

from our logs can see crashes/hangs quite random , not predictable/repeatable in nature. same lines of code can work in many cases whilst crash/hang happens. haven't been able pinpoint particular line of code causes crashes/hangs tend see pattern following operations involved, or @ least preceeding:

- copying calendars 1 project file another, ie application.organizermoveitem(...)

- reading resources in project, ie  foreach (msproject.resource r in thisproject.resources)

- editing tables in project, application.tableedit(...)

- opening project file or checking if requested file exists.

we encounter exception "exception hresult (rpc_e_serverfault)", have been able work around running procedure caused error again. second time without exception.

clews anyone?

problem solved.

it identified corrupt/damaged calendar cause. when copying calendar project file using application.organizermoveitem(...) ms project crashed after while.
