Windows Firewall is blocking Outlook 2016 - Microsoft Community


this took me while figure out. when outlook 2016 running shows 'disconnected.'

after spending several hours working different things , reading forum posts, looked nothing matched problem.

this began 2 weeks ago, , i've been using web browser send , receive outlook.com email. (technically outlook mail - migrated office 365 msn.com email account) 

i figured out bizarrely, if disable windows firewall advanced security, outlook 2016 can connect, send , receive email.

i had tried uninstalling, , re-installing of office 2016, removing registry entries, , related entries on hard drive, running office diagnostics etc.

when try set msn.com email account in outlook 2016,  it fail saying couldn't set secure (or later, unsecure) connection.

once disabled firewall, outlook able complete setup , send , received email.

every time enable firewall, outlook displays 'disconnected.'

looking @ windows firewall advanced security see auto created rule outlook 2016.

i have disabled not uninstall antivirus sophos home. best can tell through it's dumb downed interface doesn't have firewall.

i should mention machine 'insider program build' , when enable firewall logging, nothing written on denied packets...

currently, have toggle my windows firewall advanced security off , on send , receive email. craziness.

since have indicated have third party antivirus installed on computer , haven’t tried uninstalling said software, recommend try uninstall sophos antivirus , try check if can use outlook 2016 firewall enable. can tell current build of insider program?

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
