Refine Instant Search feature works intermittantly in Outlook - Microsoft Community


hi all:

i've seen other threads people same problem, none lead great solution. use outlook 16/365.t instant search refinement feature  (click search box, click "from", "subject" or other refinements , add search term) works me, intermittently stops working , grayed out. can use days , randomly stops working in inbox folder, still works in sent folder. if log off , log in starts working again , other times not. thoughts?

firstly, please upgrade outlook 2016 client latest in file> office account> update options and create new profile see if there improvement. here relevant article regarding outlook search returns no matches found, may refer recommended resolutions check if can fix issue.

note: although article applied outlook 2007, 2010 , 2013, of steps still valid in outlook 2016 , worth trying.

furthermore, i’d confirm more details issue:
1. detailed version of affected outlook 2016 client.
2. when setting personal account in outlook, search items expected?
3. try removing outlook index test issue.
a. in outlook, go file> options> search.
b. click indexing options. in pop window, select modify.
c. uncheck microsoft outlook> ok. test if there improvement
4. try rebuild search index in indexing options> advanced> rebuild. note that step may take several hours finish.

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
