Access Database(s) deployed for users without MS Access and or - Microsoft Community


- in process of designing 2 databases freely distribute specific groups of people. desire users of them able add , remove data, want the databases closed , unmodifiable general user novice or advanced.

- first intended cemeteries , veterans organizations enable them locate graves of deceased vets.

- in both, user, again, should able add , remove data, print search results, not modify actual "program".

- these "standalone" such actual office application, access or excel, not required.

in nutshell, correct. keep in mind there excel viewer, no free excel allows data entry. access there free “runner” , word or excel there free “viewer”. different access runtime allows 1 run access application. power-point, word, excel, viewers (read without modifying) allowed.

so introducing “other” programs question challenge , other systems “readers” how pdf viewer works.

in case of access , runtime have more ability. process install access or runtime (they both large installs. either 1 “same” installing full access (but runtime version free).

once installed free runtime (or full edition), users free launching program. want ensure significant amounts of testing , design of application run “runtime”. need provide menus , forms , user interface – since built in navigating pane etc. not available runtime. , if have things linked tables have provide table-relinking routine. application have split (else not able issue bugs fixes , updates without overwriting users data). so  don't develop on long time , "then" try runtime - want day 1 develop runtime in mind (compile accdb accde, , re-name accdr test , "emulate" how runtime users experience application on developer machine.
