Does the order of things matter? Options iro importing a .olm - Microsoft Community

hello all,

so thread saw me having issues ginormous outlook profile folder.

the solution create new profile (linked same account), have done - , removed original profile folder off mac external.

(i watch things see if problem comes again).

before deleting profile, exported/created .olm backup/achive file, , put on external well.

currently, new profile downloading/synching emails imap account, without doubt, majority of emails kept on mac, , not on server side.

so i'm hoping can import .olm file.

my questions:

will sitting duplicate emails , folders?

since new profile has recreated same folders server side, , pulled down 1000 emails - if import .olm file, there no doubt overlap in terms of same 1000 emails, , same folders?

what happens when import started - outlook insert archived/.olms emails/folders etc. existing folders inside new profile?

or create different sub-folder, "archived" emails etc. in there?

alternatively:

should rather create new profile, , before setting account pull down server emails, first import .olm file?

this place emails/folders of old profile whatever spots, , then when account activated, outlook possibly not pull down duplicates server?

or not matter?

hope i'm making sense - appreciate suggestions!

hi jordan-l-g,

have checked both threads , here answers questions:
based on experience, step data via exporting .olm file avoid potential data loss when creating new profile. means don’t need import file account in cases long emails intact in new profile. additionally, emails imported separate on computer folder if still want import .olm file. , don’t need worry de-duplication thing. reference:
