Outlook 2016 - Something is wrong with one of your data files..... - Microsoft Community


i'm @ professional , i've come across recent problem , looking information/advice on how best resolve this.

the user running subscription copy of outlook 2016 under windows 10, connected office 365 exchange account. when started outlook saw message "something wrong 1 of data files , outlook needs close. outlook might able fix file. click ok run inbox repair tool".

they tried inbox repair tool problem persisted.

i carried out "repair" of microsoft office (the quick repair), created new outlook profile, restarted computer. when first started outlook saw same error message (which thought strange, since new outlook profile). cancelled message , restarted outlook, , time seemed well.

next day, message appeared again, inbox repair tool run, , seemed ok.

but decided checking. opened outlook data file location , puzzled see 2 sets of ost , nst files. both had current date , time. when closed , opened outlook again, both sets of ost files updated new date/time. checked outlook data file configuration , 1 data file listed.

it's if both original profile ost file , new profile ost file both being synced via outlook, despite 1 being listed (the new one) in outlook account settings ? possible ?

original profile "outlook" - email address  "*** email address removed privacy ***"   ost file         "*** email address removed privacy ***"

new profile "janet" - email address still      "*** email address removed privacy ***"  new ost file   "*** email address removed privacy *** - janet.ost"

both ost files dates/times updated when outlook started, , both ost files show little blue "sync" icon beside them in file explorer.

if problem persists, should delete ost files first, , create new user profile ?

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
