Transfer from Live Mail to Outlook 2016 - with a twist - Microsoft Community


my parents' computer failed (bad motherboard) , had new one.

old computer:

win 7 running windows live mail , outlook 2002 (the last of never used)

new computer:

win 10 outlook 2016

we have managed import contacts not emails.  emails on old computer organised personal folders , might expect include large number of forwards personal finance information , stuff that.

the tech guy handled transfer made .pst file transfer when imported it, created appropriate folders didn't populate them missing emails.

i don't use mail client usually, i'm bit lost how correct this.

we harvested hard drive (it added case) continue trying emails , boot win 7 if needed.  .pst file supplied 1.8 gb should include emails.

what i've tried far:

1. exporting live mail .eml , trying import outlook 2016 (didn't work obviously.  mentioning know have files)

2. export .eml , convert using free .eml .pst (no luck, have run many many times since there 1000 emails transfer)

3. importing .pst file supplied many times, getting prompt duplicates (it never did)

4. getting version of live mail run on win 10 , importing .eml files there, export directly outlook 2016 (no good, in dead zone between microsoft supplying , new sites taking over.  every site says has live mail links microsoft.  can't copy.  attempting run live mail old hard drive during win 10 boot doesn't work , vice versa outlook 2016)

5. doing direct export live mail outlook 2002 using win 7 boot, exporting .pst , importing outlook 2016

this last solution has worked, every time select message prompt: "the custom form cannot opened.  outlook use an outlook form instead.  object not found."  no parents.  dad in particular not computers.  if trying @ email in 1 of folders used, happened misclick , went folder still had transferred emails notification , you'd typical "the computer different every time load it.  i'm old/you did something/the computer broken".

solutions 4 and 5 seem promising need bit more of fix.
