i keep reading should use "insert" insert picture outlook 2016 e-mail. outlook 2016 not have insert tab. if want send e-mail, picture embedded in body of e-mail, have close outlook 2016 , open mail app windows 10. mail app have insert tab.

microsoft has tried confuse users naming of e-mail clients. why can't different types, have different product name.

when office 365 subscription expires, won't renew because bought outlook 2016. can use thunderbird client , free libre office suite, other needs. 

@ , answer questions relate outlook 2016.

when replying in reading pane, insert tab indeed isn't available in outlook.

click pop out button @ top of message (above send button) open message in own window. you'll see insert tab pictures command on it.
