Issues with Office 365 - Microsoft Community


so i've had reinstall operating system on laptop. no problems there, went smooth can expected. reinstalling office 365. should easy, click on download link, run installer, , work, right?

wrong.

any time try open word message, "sorry, went wrong , word unable start. (6)" , fails open. same occurs when trying open word file. however, application opens no trouble when run administrator.

outlook gives message, "either there no default mail client or current mail client cannot fulfill messaging request. please run microsoft outlook , set default mail client." continues open without trouble. however, outlook set default mail client. running administrator gives no message , runs perfectly.

onenote gives message, "onenote cannot start because microsoft installation missing required files. run office setup again repair installation." again running administrator opens application without issue.

access, excell, powerpoint , publisher run without apparent issue.

the problem i'm having have run repair on installation 10 times now, both quick repair , online repair. nothing has fixed problem. have tried installing both 32 , 64 bit versions of program, have tried installing office 365 office 2013 applications, , none of makes difference. i'm @ end of rope, figured i'd ask experts time around.

any ideas?

please check article to compare exact version of office 2016 applications version. if office applications not updated latest version, can try updating them , see if there’s change. check article for steps update office.

if have latest version installed, can either set problematic office applications “run administrator” default or may uninstall office 2016 using easy fix tool , re-install office. easy fix tool remove corrupt instances left there previous installations.

download , install easy fix tool article (follow option 2). once have uninstalled office, go office 365 portal download office client.

if want applications run administrator default, please follow steps below:

       1. open the start menu and click all apps. find program want run in administrator mode , right-click on shortcut. in pop-up menu, click open file location.


       2. file explorer window open location of program want access. right-click on program , click properties from pop-up menu.

       3. in properties window, click the shortcut tab , click advanced...

 


      4. in advanced properties window, check box next to run administrator and click ok.

the program open in administrator mode when click shortcut start menu. you'll need repeat these steps each program want have feature.

if still error, please reply following information:

  1. please run applications in safe mode , see if error, please check article know how run office applications in safe mode.
  2. please confirm exact version of office 2016 applications. check version, open word> click file> account, you’ll see version xxxx (build xxxx.xxxx) under product information.
  3. screenshots of error.
  4. you using windows 10, right?
