No default Program - Microsoft Community


tried open .xls file , message popped asking me select application store (wouldn't let me navigate application on machine)

went settings , "associate file types specific applications".

i noted excel associated .xlsx no application associated .xls - if right click on .xls prompt go store. in similar way .doc not associated program . docx (word).

if open excel blank worksheet , navigate .xls file stored can open it.

any thoughts why behaviour has started?

you can right click excel file, click properties, please check whether excel 2016 chosen in opens with. if not, click change button click look app on pc.

you can find excel.exe in c:\program files (x86)\microsoft office\root\office16.
