Powerpoint template compatability issue - Microsoft Community


i've created corporate ppt template in ppt2013 , saved .potx file has been placed on shared drive default template.  it turns out majority of corporate users on ppt2010, when open window saying:

"the presentation or template have opened not use new powerpoint 2010 template , should converted or replaced"

i have opened .potx ppt2010 , resaved it, hoping convert back, doesn't seem case, they're still getting error (technically it's not error doesn't stop working, it's annoying client).

any idea how can .potx work ppt2010?

it sounds though  client may have custom-created template , add-in gives error message when correct template's not in use.  isn't message powerpoint display.

to make annoying message stop, you'd need either:

- locate , disable add-in (which disable useful functionality client wants keep)

- locate , contact add-in's author , find out them how add-in identifies "approved" templates , arrange have template set up.
