Outlook 2016 - Windows 10 - Searching Doesn't Work - Microsoft Community


i upgraded outlook 2013 2016 , within few days no longer able use search functions within mail, calendar, contacts, etc.  

i did find answer, after trial , error , 3 hours on phone ms, provided clues -- did not appear know i'm tell you.

here 4 steps.

click start

type services.msc in run box

locate windows search

stop it

wait 5 minutes

click file explorer

highlight c drive

click on view

check box marked hidden items (if checked, leave alone)

click on programdata subdir, microsoft, search, data, applications, windows (say yes permission boxes)

delete windows.edb (this index file)

close 

click start

type services.msc in run box

locate windows search

start it

click start

control panel

indexing options

advanced

click rebuild (this take while)

after this, search within outlook 2016 worked fine me.  ymmv.  good luck!

first thing going say, indexing. i'm not sure post answers in way, more people having indexing problems , let them know.

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
