Outlook authentication error 5.7.8 - Microsoft Community

i having issue. have 1 installation of office 2016 mac. user previously ran office 2011, upgraded week ago try , fix issue. ever since then, roor: 5.7.8 bad username or password (authetication failed) when using outlook 2016. two-factor authentication appears turned off.

could issue apple, though only became issue when upgraded office 2016. maybe co-oincidence?

try enabling two-factor authentication of email account in website of mailbox. generate app password, use password set mailbox in outlook mac 2016.

if issue still persist, please let me know version number of outlook mac such 15.35 170610 , type of email account using. ( office 365, exchange server accounts, outlook.com, hotmail.com, , live.com or gmail, yahoo etc.)
