Outlook Search stopped working out of the blue - Microsoft Community


hi all,

yesterday updated office latest build.

today, while working outlook, search stopped working.

if search word in ol, search won't find anything.

i have tried rebuilding search index.

i have tried deleting windows.edb file, restarted search service; search says has finished indexing search finds nothing if search in ol.

i have tried moving search index file different folder.

search wont work , in outlook says has finished indexing items

can please me this? have 14gb .pst file 64,000 emails!

i received email microsoft due comment on different thread same problem, same timing.  sadly has  not worked me.  did not roll office version.  same situation except have reinstalled office completely.  this latest update has cost me hours....

if issue started in march 2017 , problem searching pop accounts or pst files there new issue seeing , bug has been filed.  workaround issue have found best option revert prior working build.  here steps revert 

here main steps revert previous working version:

1. open command prompt , run following commands in order:

cd %programfiles%\common files\microsoft shared\clicktorun

officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.7571.2109

2. open outlook , click file, office account , set update options disable updates
3. add appointment on calendar month or more out remind re-enable updates.

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
