High CPU load when using Powerpoint - Microsoft Community

office 365 powerpoint version 1704 build 8067.2115

i see high cpu load (30-35%) , high cooling fan speed when using powerpoint, many times when there no files open (just application open). files on onedrive , onedrive business , synced pc. occurs when no other application open. when powerpoint closed, cpu load goes down <10%.

shut down system, restart , check if issue continues.

you can try running powerpoint in safe mode and verify results. this, follow steps below:

  1. right-click start button (lower-left corner) in windows, , click run.
  2. in the run box, type powerpnt /safe, , click ok.

note: there space between powerpnt and /.

check if cpu load still high. if isn’t, check if there’s custom add-ins installed.

additionally, please provide following information:

  1. did install update such windows update?
  2. since when facing problem?
  3. please check other office , non- office applications if show same behavior.
