this not helpful.  have outlook 2016. 

under method # i -  i don't have "tools" menu.

under method #2 - don't have "personal address book" -  when select addressee want set plain text, there no option so.  no smtp tab

i using outlook 2016 software.  email hotmail account - "outlook" well. 

none of directions helpful me.

this issue having more common when email message sent on internet.

you mentioned have tried method 1 , method 2 provided article: email received sender using outlook includes winmail.dat attachment.

we suggest try methods 3 , 4 resolve issue. if methods won't work, we'll alternative solutions.
