MS Office Outlook 2016 unknown send error 0x80040201 - Microsoft Community


for 5 days have tried send update email 40 people (for golf tournament). have sent 2 emails list of people within past month. outlook @ first fail send , not allow me save email (very frustrating). rebuilt email , addressee list , sent again, receiving unknown send error 0x80040201 except did not notice there error until next day when saw email in outbox. tried many things suggested on various forums , nothing worked. finally, sent email out subset of list until worked , discovered there single email address caused problem. have received email exact email address, caused problem? person remarried, edited contact info reflect new last name, though actual email address did not change. somehow caused outlook use funky string of text email address , fails without sending email else on list. solved problem creating new contact. frustrating. had no way know issue 1 of email addresses because when list contact info in list, looked fine. after hitting "send" translated nonsense 1 person. post in case may else runs problem or in case ms wants try fix bug.

this unknown error may happen if there corrupted .nk2 file in machine. resolve this, suggest follow troubleshooting steps provided steve fan on thread.
