Symbol dialog box greyed out in Outlook - Microsoft Community


have office 365 outlook installed on windows 7 , when go write new message in outlook unable insert symbol symbol dialog box greyed out.  can suggest fix please.

i suggest firstly check whether message format html or plain text. if plain text， change html , verify status. open outlook > file > options > mail > under ‘compose message' >compose messages in format , change option accordingly.  

if issue still exists, need following information troubleshooting:

  1. where did download office suite, office 365 software portal ? if not, please share detailed information.
  2. a screenshot of symptom. 
  3. the version of outlook. please check opening outlook>file> office account. see screenshot below:
