Realtime co-authoring via PowerPoint Online - Microsoft Community


yesterday teacher attempted have class of 18 students realtime co-author powerpoint via online. seemed great , see changes. once closed browsers , came few hours later appeared nothing saved. tried again , 1 note trying open document in powerpoint 2016 see others editing none of changes being synchronized. ideas happened , how can prevent in future?

i did more testing today 2-3 users , seems work. problem way can verify save using desktop powerpoint , checking status of slides. online looks fine work disappears once editors leave.

1. real-time co-authoring work in powerpoint online. when closing browsers , opening powerpoint file in powerpoint online again, previous changes made in powerpoint file aren’t saved.

2. when opening powerpoint file in powerpoint 2016, can see others editing without changes synced.

if yes, i’d confirm , provide following.

1. open powerpoint file, in site library in sharepoint online or in onedrive business library?

2. “we tried again , 1 note trying open document in powerpoint 2016 see others editing none of changes being synchronized.“, mean can’t see changes in edited slide @ side though people’s images showed following. upload related screenshots?

3. issue happen in specific file? if save file in site, what’s outcome?

4. issues happen in users?

given situation, suggest try , confirm following.

1. when co-authoring in powerpoint online, check if see saved @ top of file. if see status saving, wait until changed saved , access file see outcome. meanwhile, suggest clear ie cache via tools>safety>delete browsing history, change browser or change network environment test , let know outcome.

2. versions of powerpoint client using users may not support real-time co-authoring, in situation, not see changes made others immediately. please check whether can see changes if click save in client , provide screenshots of pages showing version information of affected clients. generalluy, can click file>account pages.
