Outlook search not working - Microsoft Community


hi,

i upgraded office 2013 office 365. when did so, emails accounts linked outlook 365, good. however, when try perform search, not result given. 

i followed tutorial, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2769651/en-us, it's still not working.

i hope can on because it's important.

after checking our backend team , tenant not affected issue ex94603. fix issue, please try following:

a). remove outlook index:

  1. go outlook settings (file | options)
  2. go search settings
  3. click on indexing options
  4. click modify , deselect microsoft outlook
  5. click close dismiss dialog box
  6. exit outlook.

 

b). ensure outlook files can indexed:

any outlook ost or pst file you’re using must allowed indexed windows.  default file attribute when outlook indexing enabled, reason, changed during recent os upgrade.

  1. find ost , pst files you’re using on computer. in windows 8, ost files hidden , stored in :\users\[username]\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook folder.
  2. for each file you’re using, right click on file(s) , select properties.
  3. click on advanced button on general tab.
  4. ensure allow file have contents indexed in addition file checked.

 

c). re-add outlook index:

  1. follow same steps in step “a).” , re-add microsoft outlook search index.  start outlook, go indexing options, , add microsoft outlook list.

 

d). rebuild index (optional):

if it’s still not working after perform step a), b), , c), may need rebuild search index.  rebuild index:

  1. go outlook settings (file | options).
  2. go search settings.
  3. click on indexing options.
  4. click advanced.
  5. click rebuild.
  6. click ok , close dismiss dialogs.

 

moreover, better understand situation, i’d collect following information:

  1. regarding “i upgraded office 2013 office 365. when did so, emails accounts linked outlook 365”, mean use office 365 account download office suites or use office 365 exchange online account?
  2. the type of account, gmail, exchange on-premises.
  3. has outlook 2013 search stopped working? when perform search, result empty?
  4. the detailed version of outlook 2013 client.

know if there way insert attachment (e.g., document) within meeting invite not own. example, vp creates meeting invite managers quick touch base.  the managers attach document invitees may view 'summary' while being discussed).  is possible invitee include attachment? hello janice, you can send attachment meetings got invited in outlook 2016. can insert attachment going event go insert tab select attach file . click send update send meeting updates, including attachment. let know if need further assistance.
